While playing with Zero Suit Samus in Smash Bros for Wii U, something happened that absolutely blew my mind!

Watch Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fEXNLsn-XI0

In the video it seems as though I was somehow able to Cancel my Smash Attack. I tried to recreate this cancel multiple times, but to no avail which leads me to believe that it was possibly a glitch in the game. However, if Smash attack canceling is actually possible in Smash 4 it would change the entire dynamic of the game! Think of all of the baits and set ups that can be created with this tech.

Possible Questions that I have yet to test:
-What if it can only be done within 1 frame of the Smash animation?
-What if it is only possible with curtain characters?
-What if it only worked because of a curtain transition on Lylat?
-What if the Character has to be at a curtain percent?
-Does it only work with curtain controllers? (btw I was using a GameCube controller)

Anyways, I'm curious to know what you guys think. Has this ever happened to any of you?

It was clearly the result of the stage tilt.

That is a possibility, but I've played on that stage in training mode with that same character, in the same position, holding FSmash for the entire duration of the Stage Transitions multiple times but with no results... so I'm thinking it might be a little more complex.

You were directly on top of the stage collision's "joint" and when it initiated it's tilt your character's global positioning bone was quickly shifted between the two, causing it to reset your character, hence the circular "landing" dust cloud that appeared beneath samus

The only complexity to it is that it isn't a tech.

Lol, I couldn't understand a lot of what you just stated so I'm guessing you're a lot more educated in terms of Smash logic. What I could understand makes a lot of since and explains why I wasn't able to recreate the Smash attack cancel. It's seem that the circumstances for it to happen is extremely unlikely and is based entirely on luck if I'm correct in interpreting your assumption.

I think Lylat Cruise is known for it's proneness to glitches. Therefore, I'm casting my vote that it was just a mere glitch.

hahah yeah, with all of it's uncertainties I'm not sure why Lylat is a Tournament legal stage -_-
