Smash Journeyman
I have been wondering about Smash 4 and other games and their differences. I thought about a thing, and I wish to know if you agree with me or not.
I'd say that in smash 4 your opponent matters more than in melee for example, and the key to success in Sm4sh is to get to your opponent's head, and advanced players can always think of and figure out more and more complex patterns, and try to counter each other, and the better strategy always wins.
In melee, I'd say that the 'skills' melee player are so proud of matter more. (I said 'skills' instead of skills because i wanted to poke at you melee players. I know you have a lot of skills because you never forget to point it out in the comment section of Smash 4 videos you seem so eager to watch. I'm mad at you.) In melee, your opponent doesn't matter much if you can keep him in the combo. (Yes, combos look great, they must be difficult to pull off ( really, i respect it), and they make melee hype game.)
But back to the matter at hand, I think Smash 4 is more mental than mechanical skill requiring game, like a big game of rock paper scissors, with a lot more rocks, papers and scissors, and you are able to react to stuff.
Also, that's why I think that Smash 4 is really hard to practice alone, as CPU:s don't think like actual players.
NOTE: These thoughts come from a player with practically no competetive experience at all, I just like to think stuff.
