a Developer Direct or just a Trailer? I see people talking about how Sakurai would reveal a lot more than the April direct, but would they do that in their own direct?

Last year they basically had a Nintendo Direct on a Mega Mushroom, where they had the format of a regular Direct but the announcements of E3.I am not really sure how E3 worked last year (as I intended to watch E3 and Nintendo wasn't at E3), but I assume it would work similarly. I wouldn't be surprised if they had a "mini-direct" dedicated to Smash. But I don't necessarily think it would get its own Direct as they intend to show off other games.
Okay, so basically Nintendo held its own "E3" which was a much much longer Direct showcasing all of the games. A portion of the Direct was be attributed to Smash. That is interesting. I intend on skipping E3 for Ninte3do. Yeah, that didn't even work as a word, but I am keeping it. It looks cool.Last year they basically had a Nintendo Direct on a Mega Mushroom, where they had the format of a regular Direct but the announcements of E3.
Smash had its own portion of the video, so I predict something similar this year.
I certainly hope that we get something MUCH longer than 8 minutes. But I suppose a Developer Direct wouldn't be out of the question. They had this 8-minute developer direct at E3 last year:
So we might get something similar.
Well, there was this, some on-stage (out of the Nokia theater) demos, the main E3 direct, and a few other things. For example, the trailer for Sm4sh was in the main direct. But it seems this year they're gonna have a LOT more stuff the whole time.I certainly hope that we get something MUCH longer than 8 minutes. They probably learned from last year, most people aren't going to skip E3 for a Direct... they might skip E3 for a "Digital Event" though. Either way, I am excited, we might get a second trailer for Smash.Well, there was this, some on-stage (out of the Nokia theater) demos, the main E3 direct, and a few other things. I don't understand what you're talking about with "skipping E3".They probably learned from last year, most people aren't going to skip E3 for a Direct... they might skip E3 for a "Digital Event" though. Either way, I am excited, we might get a second trailer for Smash.
That was I meant, I suppose. I have no idea with all of these different names for the same thing, that is why I am trying to reaffirm what happened. I am clueless (I still skipped Nintendo's E3 though, I thought they did it via a Direct).I don't understand what you're talking about with "skipping E3".
Nintendo was at E3, they just didn't have their presentation on a theater stage with an audience reacting to them directly. Nobody had to "skip" it to watch Nintendo's event.
Key Nintendo people were there, they had their games there, Sakurai was there, and they had a private session where they showed off/demoed their games with the media (and that's where the Wii Fit Trainer reveal & the Mario vs. Mega Man footage is from).
The Direct was PART of E3, and was viewable AT E3.
The digital event is the exact same thing. They are attending E3, showing their video at E3, and demoing the games at E3. They will also be streaming Treehouse gameplay and the SSB tourney *from* E3.
Literally the only thing they didn't do, and aren't doing this time, is standing on a stage with awkward pauses. Everything else is the same as past years. They're just bringing the footage directly to their fans, which annoys media outlets because it means less clicks on their websites to see the footage/information, since Nintendo is giving it to them at the same time as the media.
Ah, understood. I suppose it IS a bit complicated. Here:That was I meant, I suppose. I have no idea with all of these different names for the same thing, that is why I am trying to reaffirm what happened. I am clueless (I still skipped Nintendo's E3 though, I thought they did it via a Direct).
I don't necessarily agree, Smash needs the spotlight to perform as well as they want it to. I mean, they should still show other games, but it would be counter-intuitive to not give us everything they can on Smash. We're definitely getting a trailer during E3 and probably another Developer Direct after it.
To be honest, though, other games need the spotlight, especially since Smash already has an Invitational Tournament.
