Is shffling a must have for a good Marth?

Flawless technical skill will not hurt your Marth game. Learning and taking the time to practice and master the SHFFL will not hurt your game either. Once you have an array techniques at your command (assuming you can perform these without problem) is the first step to winning. Your actual playing style will be your 'mindgames', while your weapons will be these techniques. The mindgames will be deciding what move to do. Then you have to be able to perform the technique.

So to answer your question, SHFFLing isn't absolutely 100% necessary, but you should learn it anyways.

If you want to be as good as can be, then yes, SHFFLing is necessary. A lot of the combos that you will do with Marth will involve short-hopped aerials, and SHFFLing them will help speed up the process (though SHFFLing isn't used with short hop double fairs, which is a fairly common move in combos). While I suppose you could potentially get by as a 'good' Marth without SHFFLing, you might as well learn how to SHFFL if you want to get better. There will be some times when you will want to SHFFL, and some times when you might not, and you're going to want to be prepared for either situation. It's not even a very difficult technique, really, so overall, I'd say yes, you need to be able to SHFFL.

Ever since I picked up SHFFLing, I can beat my cousin. It makes you less vulnerable than a full jump, the fast fall and L cancel help you to keep the combo going. Yeah...I know, it's hard to pick up but eventually you'll get it. I remeber when I used to try and L cancel before my Aerial and I did an air dodge xD. Yes, it's very usefull, Strong attacks done VERY fast = GOOD. xD
