Is Sakurai a Metroid fan?

There's just to much Metroid lingo going on to ignore. I'd just like to know... what is it about Metroid that he likes?. could it be Samus' jumping ability that rivals Kirby's?

I think that only does some casual cameos, like the capcom ones. why samus - kriby? unexplainable. maybe, because both are spherical?

Well, i don't think he'd put Samus in his games JUST for the cameos, he's defintly a fan, but i wanna know what intrests him about it, that's all.
