According to Masahiro Sakurai, the Global Smash Power of players will only be influenced by solo play modes, and that multiplayer matches will be ignored; however, he did note that "there would be some sort of matchmaking" during online play.
I was discussing this with a friend and fellow Smasher and he brought up a good point. If they don't use Global Smash Power for matchmaking, what do they use?

I suggested that they don't use GSP for matchmaking so that they don't have to keep a database of every player. If they don't do this, that would mean that other game stats would be used to determine matchmaking. Has anyone looked into this? Is it Win/Loss ratio or something else?
