I was discussing this with a friend and fellow Smasher and he brought up a good point. If they don't use Global Smash Power for matchmaking, what do they use?According to Masahiro Sakurai, the Global Smash Power of players will only be influenced by solo play modes, and that multiplayer matches will be ignored; however, he did note that "there would be some sort of matchmaking" during online play.
I suggested that they don't use GSP for matchmaking so that they don't have to keep a database of every player. If they don't do this, that would mean that other game stats would be used to determine matchmaking. Has anyone looked into this? Is it Win/Loss ratio or something else?
