Is it possible to "combine" two common5.pacs?

I'm trying to use a pre-made texture pack and a pre-made stage expansion pack both made for project M. They work fine together, except the character portraits are now default instead of custom. I'm guessing this is because I had to replace the common5.pac that had it. Is there any tool to combine it in any way?

BrawlBox can do what you're asking.

Basically, you'll want to open up your common5 that has the characters and export "char_bust_tex_lz77"
(common5/sc_selcharacter_en/char_bust_tex_lz77)

Once you've done that, open your common5 with your stages and replace char_bust_tex_lz77 with the one you exported earlier. Should do the trick. If you experience any freezes, (you shouldn't) report back here.
