Is it just me or does The Smash Run battlefield reminds me of Sonic 3 & K's Ange Island

Funny thing that you say this, because sometimes when you fight Eggrobos in Smash Run, you can see Angel Island in the background.

I kind of see it, but it reminds me a bit more of Donkey Kong Country with a Kirby like level design.

No. The floating islands are just a common thing in fantasy like worlds. They don't really bear resemblance to Angel Island.
