Is it a reasonable idea to train with CPUS?

So i just recently started playing melee, and i've been training with the level 9 CPUS (because I have nobody else to play with :() but I was wondering if training with them will help me to improve in the long run. I mostly am practicing my wave-dashing, L-canceling and dash dancing.

Level 9s will make you a better noob because they'll only teach you how to counter their specific patterns. You might hinder your own mix up game by playing against them. Mew2King is famous for practicing against CPUs endlessly and look at how good he became. Most players recommend levels 1 - 3. The idea of practicing against CPUs is to improve ability. The more technical the character you practice, the more you'll benefit. Tech skill simply makes up greater portions of their game

From my recent experiences of playing level 9 CPUs......ok for one thing, remember that CPUs in Melee can never simulate a human or a played match. The thing is, CPUs can respond in frame perfect reactions. Ever tried Falco on any level 9 CPU? They will power shield almost all of the time. It's annoying.

I play against only level 1s. What's personally more important to me are how flexible my characters are. You practice your tech and mobility, and then the rest will play out in a real match, netplay or local. You'll be ready to know what to do after you get your daily warm-up. I hope that helps!
