Is it a good idea to play Sheik in melee and Sheik in smash 4?

Sorry about this but I just don't know if this is a good idea. Because I feel like it might mess up my melee sheik a bit

The simple answer is yes it will mess you up a bit at first but as long as you don't stop playing either game then you should be able to improve or keep both Sheik's up to date. You will most likely have to play a few warm up matches though if you are switching between games in tournament.

Now to address the question in the title I would have to say yes it is a good idea. Although Sheik plays very differently from Melee to smash4 a lot of the key aspect of Sheik are still the same, you still want always grab them, you depend on your gimps a lot (not so much melee) needles are godly, your moves do get change a bit between the games but with the exception of dsmash your frame data is about the same, you want your opponent above you so on and so on. At the core Sheik is still the same but is now good in different area's.

I see and they do both require great movement, combo-oriented, need to lead into their kill moves. Thank you

I know that with my own personal experience switching between the two, going back to Melee after Sm4sh with Sheik was... rather difficult. Melee felt super clunky to me. I think that as long as you're not in a tourney while switching or if you take the time to warm up after transitioning, you should be fine.

Heh, I'm actually picking up Melee soon to learn and compete eventually, and was thinking of that exact question. No Bouncing Fish and in general different mechanics might be a bit difficult to adapt to lol, so I'm thinking of picking something else. The funny part is that, the two characters I'm interested in (Sheik and Marth) also happen to be the two characters I play with on sm4sh :| So it'll be awkward regardless.

I'll see what happens though, maybe I might main something else.

The transition of Smash 4 Sheik to Melee Sheik shouldn't be too horrible, but once you start learning Melee Marth, you're gonna cry when you go back to Sm4sh Marth. I played Melee on a low competitive level (aka not quite tourney level, but still decent), and I mostly mained Marth. I also basically mained Marth in Brawl and PM. Everyone talks about how hard MK got nerfed in this game, but I think Marth got nerfed even harder. I really wanted to give him a chance, but I just hate Marth in Smash 4. Pretty much all his moves are slower/ have alot more ending lag. His side-B cancel stuff was so useful, but now it has a lot of lag if you try to only do the first swing. All his throws are mediocre now. No more up tilt combos. No more SHFFL Nair. No more Ken combos ._.
