Is it a glitch when ness/Greninja dies with their recovery?

It's been a while I know that sometimes when I use Hydro Pump or Pk Thunder 2 my character just hit the stage and dies.

And I seriously consider this as a glitch, I don't think it is the way it should works as it is not always possible to foresee.

Do you think it will be patched?

I know ness has trouble with aiming his pk thunder 2, especially with online lag, but greninja?

Maybe some replays would help. Right now I'm just assuming you're missing the ledge sweet spot. Some stages have weird ledges and even the best of us just whiff it sometimes.

Can't help you with the Greninja weirdness, but for Ness if he bounces off of the stage you can do another PK Thunder. Just mash Up+B if you think you are going to hit the stage.

Doesn't Ness need to tech when he hits the stage to gain a second PKT2?

Edit: Nope, just looks like you need to mash Up+ B when you bounce off the stage. Can only do it once.

So, there's a TINY TINY TINY frame range when I can make another Pk thunder after I hit the stage?

More or less, it would seem.

Start mashing the input for your PK variant as you hit the stage (or a split second before impact) and you should get a second one. Best to just go into training mode on your Wii U/3DS version and keep doing it until you get the hang of it.

The problem is that the spot to grab the ledge isn't actually on the ledge.

There's a bit of wall above the ledgegrab spot on most(all?) stages, if you play a character with wall jumps/clings you've probably noticed it:



If you hit this spot with recoveries that bounce off walls, you'll bounce off the wall in helpless and die.



It isn't really a glitch so much as unfortunate stage design. If you're using characters that can be a victim of this it's just something you need to be mindful of.

As an aside, Greninja can still wall cling/jump after bouncing off a wall with upB, so you can still save yourself on walled stages.
