Is having songs with lyrics distracting?

@ Title. I personally like it, but if I brought my setup with my personal music, would it be relegated to friendlies only?

Depends on how 'distracting' an individual (or the TO) finds it. I've certainly seen plenty of streams where animu music was on the main wii.

Depends on lyricism. Also depends on feel. At first, absolutely, but over time whoever plays your mod will not notice it so much. Personally, I limit words to just small samples. Full verses, hooks, and general speeches I leave out.

Personal hate, unless maybe the voice is extremely ambient, to the point where it doesn't even sound like a voice anymore.

I would say it depends on the song, but look how many people let Sonic Boom rock on Green Hill Zone when it's all default music?

So, I love singing. I love all kinds of music - lyrics or not.

But it is my opinion that lyrics feel so out of place in 99% of video games - Smash being one of the first kinds of games where lyrics absolutely do not belong. Lyrics crush the aesthetic, they're out of place with the Nintendo theme, and they're distracting as all hell while you're trying to play.

Yeah and on the mention of Sonic Boom - I'm an anti-Sonic Boom guy too. I like Live and Learn as a song, but I don't want that **** on while I'm playing.

To answer your question - I would personally refuse to play on that setup for a tournament match but also probably friendlies lol.

The only song I use that has lyrics is the Pokemon main song (I wanna be the very best) on PS2.

Other than that, I can't stand songs with lyrics.

For my personal builds, I usually just stick to relevant video game music. Lyrics are distracting IMO and everyone has different tastes in music.

vidyagayme music is specifically engineered to not be distracting while you're playing the game while fitting the atmosphere.

I will say that generally I toiboh dislike lyrics in bgm buuuuuuut I do have a few songs (like 3 or 4?) that I like entirely too much not to have in mah build. And they typically fit the mood/colors/whatever of the stage I have them on and are not horridly distracting...

PS: None of that animu lyric action goin on at all in my build... except maybe one of the few, not sure if it counts since technically not from an anime... ANYWAY I've heard so much of it on random doodz builds at tourneys and it drives me up a wall lol... How can they have that garbodor playing in the background while they're tryin to forward smash and wavedash?
