If you are still learning Fox, I wouldn't recommend picking up a secondary right now.

Would he be a good secondary? I don't really think so. Fox has a very good matchup spread already, and I don't really see Falcon filling any holes in it, and I feel he doesn't add too much to Fox's even matchups.

If you want to know who I think a better secondary is, I would say Marth, because marth can be very good against spacies when played correctly, and can balance Fox's matchups a little better, if that's possible. The main thing though is that he is a good backup for when your hands aren't up to playing Fox.

Actually I think Falcon could be for fd Marth. I think you could make the argument falcon wins there, whereas fox tends to be slightly disadvantaged.

Falcon also has an easier time with janky mid and low tier characters. Not that fox doesn't win by a larger margin--more that falcon is easier to win with in these matchups. This is due to the nature of fox's combo game. Waveshine combos feel different on different characters. It's harder to be on point with those and the other small nuances you have to learn for those matchups than it is to just steamroll and do streamline combos with falcon.

As everyone else has pointed out, you don't need a secondary as fox. And I would even go as far to say that training one this early will make it harder on you. So I suggest you focus on fox for awhile. But in a few years you want a secondary, falcon isn't too bad a choice.

I just thought about how firmly hax would say NO to this, and he himself is a fox main falcon secondary. Lol

Fox has no bad matchups so he doesn't need a secondary nor is there a "good" secondary for him. It comes down to what matchups your bad at then deciding a secondary

That depends on how you're going to use him. For example: even though I believe both go even with Marth, Fox usually loses in practice and Falcon usually wins in practice, so if you're struggling vs Marth, sure.

I'm not sure what other matchup you could use him for, so if not Marth, I'd recommend sticking with Fox.

You must have some really good Falcon's and some really bad Foxes. The Fox V. Marth MU is only ever in Marth's favor in FD, and I think that the Falcon V. Marth MU in practice (above low level; low level Marth V. low level Falcon is Marth slaughtering Falcon) is 45-55 in favor of Marth. While Falcon can combo Marth really well, pretty much all of Marth's moves outspace Falcon's, Marth can combo Falcon pretty well, and if the Marth knows what he is doing, there's no way for a falcon to get back on stage after getting knocked off.
