Invisible Shuriken on 3DS

I've got no tools to take video, but I've noticed recently on my 3DS that whenever I fight greninja, if he throws shuriken at anything but max charge, they're virtually invisible. I mean invisible. All I can see is a few specks from the splash of water effect. In other words, I can only actually see the fully charged star. If I go into training on my own and pick greninja, this still happens. This did NOT happen before and I could clearly see his stars no matter what charge they were at. Has anyone else had this happen recently?
