Hey all,
My name is Alex "vVv SonicPanda" and I am currently living in Southeastern Pennsylvania, near West Chester. I am a member of the vVv Gaming community, but am not sponsored or anything with them. I got started with Smash Bros with Melee but never really got into it, and that was about 8 years ago. Once I was able to pick up Brawl, I immediately got it and started practicing.
Since I didn't really have a practice partner or realize there was a competitive scene for SSB, I thought I was doing pretty well since I was eventually able to beat level 9's without a problem. Then I found combo videos, then tournament videos and realized one thing: I was utter and complete crap. I realized I knew almost nothing about the game: no wavedashing, wavelanding, L-Cancelling, or even Shield Grabbing. Instead of growing discouraged I instead researched and practiced what I found. While I learned about L-Cancelling, wavedashing/landing quite a bit later, I did practice DACUS'ing with Snake which I found to be so satisfying. I remember when I finally got it consistently I made a ruckus about it. Which wouldn't be a problem but it happened to be at about 2 AM. Oh well.
I eventually started working on my Marth and Captain Falcon in Brawl, until I learned about Project M. After FINALLY getting a SD card and getting it set up I went to work. This was about 2 months ago and I have played probably 1-3 hours a day against bots, just trying to work on mechanics. This is a little tougher for me then most people probably since I have no feeling in my fingertips due to 20 years of pricking them to draw blood for my Type I diabetes. (You can call it a John if you want) I am currently working on my Bowser (because Bowser Bomb Cancelling is amazing) and will probably try to pick up 1-2 more characters, with Ivysaur most likely being one of those.
Due to the lack of options for transportation I have (doctor's won't sign my driver's license because of the diabetes) I still don't really have a practice partner or group of people to play with, so it's bots for now!
If anyone would like to know more, please let me know and I look forward to meeting the community and hopefully becoming a less then mediocre player instead of the trash tier player I am now.
Thanks,
vVv SonicPanda
