Smash 3DS Interesting character unlock glitch (maybe?)

I had worn out my thumbs on a day of SSB (just getting back into console gaming after a long time away) so I've been watching a lot of replays for the hell of it.

Apparently, each replay counted as playing a game because, from then on, at the end of each offline game played, I unlocked another character until all had been unlocked.

Are you sure you hadn't been doing a lot of online battles, watched the replays, and then did the offline battles for the unlocks?

I did a ****load of online battles before unlocking anybody so after I started playing CPUs, I kept getting numerous unlocks.

I'm 80% sure I did no where near enough online battles. Wouldn't you have to do 100 or more to unlock all characters through battles alone?

Yeah, that sounds about right. I've long since unlocked everyone but this can be interesting if true. All you'd have to do to grind is watch the same replay of you SD'ing in a 1 stock game.
