I know I sound complainey when I say this but: the CPUs in SSB3DS have inhuman reaction times. As in they shield RIGHT when your attack is supposed to hit. Now, I can take on 1 lvl 9 CPU very easily, but when it comes to fighting 2 or more FFA, with or without items, I NEED to play as my best character in order to win. AND as stupid as this all is, I can take on 3 lvl 8 CPUs FFA, & be the only one with a positive score, & i can play as any character.
Does anyone else feel the same as me? & I don't really suck at the game, I mean, My win rate 1v1 for glory is just over 60%. & I don't wuss out on a hard fight, I stay, until they get tired of winning, or I win, then they leave cuz they're ashamed.

I have a full experience with those guys, targeting YOU, & only YOU, even when your falling to the ground they all crowd in 1 area w/out even thinking about hitting each other. Its just.... terrible design.

I find the CPU simple in a 1v1. They have patterns. It's like playing a boss battle, only not so difficult. Learn the patterns and exploit them.

In FFA, I still don't have much trouble. You can usually hang back if need be.

8-Player Smash on Wii U is anyone's game though, on the more cramped stages at least.

I can handle them on ffa but I will be cautious on items since they usually screw me over with exploding capsules, or items like hammers, gust bellows, or super stars spawn right next to them. Let me tell you though, Wii U cpus are tougher but I can still handle them, but the amiibos is where it's at. Tougher than those normal level 9 cpus but seems more fair in a way. So Wii U / 3ds gets my vote for the fairest.

This is off topic but I'm guessing you are the same optimuskirby that I know of for years now and it has been awhile. :)

The CPU's are pretty bad in Smash 4. Yeah they have amazing reaction time making it somewhat difficult, but from my experience they seem to only use 1 move and smash attacks besides the general shielding, grabbing, etc.

Ultra shield grabbing.
I've ALSO seen them do the run rapidly back & forth in 1 spot thing.
But hey, at least they don't spam.

The cpus in all the smash games are pretty easy to handle when you learn their patterns. Every cpu in every smash game has recognizable patterns and definite weaknesses. Projectile spam a cpu in any of them and the cpu will have no idea what to do. The one thing that gets me in sm4sh especially is that the cpus seem to be even better at teching everything (I've had cpu's perfectly DI and tech the side of the stage when I meteor smash them which is a really difficult technique for any human to do reliably). Moreover, anyone else notice how the cpus in this smash teabag? A lot? Sakurai is such a troll.

Play the punish game with them.

Almost all of them will just start attacking the air if you don't do anything, and once they whiff something laggy, whack them with a shorthopped aerial or catch them with a grab.

Yes I have done shorthopping into an up-tilt, mainly with G&W & Pac-Man, cuz they have good aireals. I also think i suck is because I like, never grab, I've only ever grabbed on 1V1 glory.

Yes. I mean, if they were real people, you'd be all like: "Wow, these guys are good but since there not, your all like: "Wow, the developers are jerks."

I'm still trying to beat that Intensity 9.0, one life challenge on Smash Wii U, and I haven't even been able to make it up to Master Fortress without losing one. I feel your pain.
