In terms of Character reveals, we all overlooked something: the first trailer!

Yup, I said it.

We all overlooked, what I think, is the biggest hint to what we may get right before release.

There is this term called "bookends".

A "bookend" places something at the beginning, and something of equal quality at the end.

For example, if you have a red colored bookend, its opposite color is blue, so it'd be a great way to end everything.

WHats not to say the trailer before release wont include in their places:

Ridley
Wario
Dark Pit
Ganondorf
King K Rool / Dixie

Maybe its like a mirrored version of the original E3 2013 trailer with newcomers!

I think the first trailer was a hint all along!

That trailer begins by showing us the original 8 starter characters of Smash 64, with Yoshi replaced by Pit because he wasn't ready to be shown (insert Sakurai favoritism joke here). It's a callback, and interpreting this as a hint to future reveals just seems like wishful thinking to me.

I'd be pretty fine with that, except replace Dark Pit with Hades or someone more interesting. And Krool, not Dixie (much as I liked DKC2, KRool is more memorable and stands a better chance of not being a clone).
And if it was KRool and Wolf, that would keep the theme of replacing everyone with their villain version. And then we just need a new character to take Villager's place in the video. Like Shulk or someone.

That said, this does feel like grasping at straws, but I would be super fine with this.
