Sakurai said that he really wanted to improve aerial combat this time around. What do you think some of the new features/moves could help this cause? I've heard aerial shielding before, and it seems more characters have multiple jumps/gliding ability. Ideas?

i think that the gam espeed will be slower then melee and more characters will have more than 2 jumps

I think he meant to improve it, not totally revolutionize it by adding something like air-shielding. We'll probably see alot more air mobility (more jumps, more jigglypuffish-freedom in the air) and stuff like that. The revealed Footstool jump was also one of those improvements. The biggest possible change, in my opinion, is airgrabbing, but I doubt it.

I dought air grabbing or sheilding will be included, it would affect the gameplay way too much.

What if there was direction to your jump -- I mean, instead of jumping up always, you could angle your jumps to get distance instead of height? maybe.

From what I can tell, higher jumps, more height oriented attacks. Ike's Aether, for example, goes preeeeeetty dang high.
Oh yeah it does. It's a good thing it can be easily punished. Anyways, it looks like aerial combat will be more intense. Just look at that E3 trailer with Pit and Metaknight going at it. However, thinking up of ideas like aerial shield blocking and air grabs are too far-fetched for Brawl and ridiculous if you ask me.

i really hope they improve aerial combat, i am a great fan of attacking in the air, it seems so much fun than being stuck on the ground :chuckle:

LMAO. Air Shielding was my idea lol. Also, I thought of the Air Dodge Grab.

But yeh, Sakurai wouldn't change Air Combat THIS drastically. He's probably just going to improve characters arial attacks.

Air sheilds, and air grabs are both good SOUNDING ideas, but were they in the game I think it would lose the feel of smashbros.

Airgrabs I wouldnt mind too much, if only a few characters had them like bowsers forward b in melee... but they should be special moves

air shields would distort smash gameplay too much and I dont see them being implemented.

As for how he's going to ''improve'' aerial combat, I have no clue. Melee is played a lot in the air, at least half the time someones doing an air move if not all the time.

We'll have to wait and see, as always.
