I'm new to Melee in general

I only got melee and started playing it like a month ago. My initial thought process was: "I should start with Fox, because if I can play him, the game will be easier." I bet this is true, but I'm pretty sure you won't see much progress with Fox initially because of his steep learning curve in relation to everyone else. I had learned wavedashing, l cancelling, short hop double laser, and double shining (I realize this is unnecessary for where I am, I saw Westballz pulling like quad shines and I was just curious lol) with fox. Upon switching to Falco, I realized many things were a tiny bit easier, most notably, shorthopping. For some reason, though, I find Falco's wavedash so much more difficult that Fox's. I don't seem to be getting the timing right, and sometimes I'll short hop airdodge when I try wavedashing out of a dash dance... So if anyone's got any tips on wavedashing with Falco and using it out of a dash dance and shine (forwards and backwards if you would be so kind), that would be awesome!
Thanks in advance!

it's not that his wavedash is harder its just different than foxes i remember i started off the same way, just slow down learn to wave dash slow, i was having trouble learning to multi shine and then i did it the slow way first to learn the timing and now i can do it the right way and fast and consistent

The reason that Falco's SH is easier to do than Fox's is because Falco has more jumpsquat frames than Fox does. The max # of frames you can hold jump for with Fox is 2, but I think Falco has 4. That's probably a part of it. As for the WD issue, I'd just suggest practicing it. I've noticed a small difference in timing between Marth and Falco, but practice has made it so I can go between them with ease. I really just suggest practice.
