Hi everyone. I'm not entirely new to Smash. I played it a lot back on N64...but that's been quite a long time. I used to main Link and have been starting there on the Wii U, but am starting to favor Captain Falcon. Is Link considered a harder character to get good at? (I've mostly been playing 2v2 "for fun", as I've lost 4 for 4 on 1v1 "for glory")

A little bit about myself:
I'm 28, probably not as young as most whipper snappers here. I usually stick with one game at a time for quite a while. I've been playing StarCraft 2 almost exclusively for past few years, and maybe now that I got a Wii U and Smash I'll have a new game to focus in on.

Question:
During online play, is there any sort of ranking system that puts you up against players of similar skill? Meaning, if I win a lot, I'd play better players, and if I lose a lot, I'd play worse players? Or is it just totally random and I play against whoever?

Also, is there a pro scene or anything to this game? If so - please provide links or info, I'd like to watch some good players. Oh, and any info on how to get better with Link or Captain Falcon would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

Welcome to the boards.

Regarding your question, nope, For Glory is random and you play against whoever. And about the pro scene, I suggest watching Clash Tournaments and / or VGBootCamp on YouTube. The videos are pretty good.

On top of these most smash scenes have their own twitch channels and youtube channels as well, such as Windy City Smash for Chicago/Midwest smash tourneys. And welcome to the boards friend!

Welcome man! Looks like they've answered your questions but if you have any others feel free to shoot em. Regarding link, it depends how you want to play link. Casually most players will use the projectiles but once you step into a more complex link it's all about those combos with the bomb and boomerang. I'd suggest checking out some link guides on here as you can find basic to advanced tutorials there. Regardless of that welcome dude and I hope you enjoy it here.
