Im having a problem with the monkey flip momentum popgun cancel, can someone help?

Whenever I try to popgun cancel the momentum from my monkey flip for some reason I get the momentum to reverse but my popgun does not cancel so I end up shooting a peanut after I hit the ground. Is this just bad timing if so where am I messing up or am I just doing the tech wrong?

Stop making these threads we have a Q/A thread for this, and it just takes practice to get the timing down.

Are you holding your shield the entire time?
The popgun wont cancel unless you hold shield when you start the monkey flip
Also i think you have to hold B when you Popgun, might be wrong, got it on muscle memory, but try it out if it doesnt work
