Howdy. I'm looking to make myself known in the competitive Sm4sh scene. I love this community more than any other gaming community and I think I'm finally ready to attend events.

I wanted to ask some questions regarding exactly how tournaments are run. Say I were to attend a local, small double-elimination tournament.
- How would I enter?
- Would we normally only use one Wii U system?
- Would I just simply wait until I'm called for my next set?
- What's the proper etiquette for winning/losing? (Silly question, I know)
- If we're using multiple Wii U systems, would I just be told where to go when, or would I have to ask around?
- How do I find and apply to tournaments near me?
- how was your first tournament experience?

I will answer your questions!

- How would I enter?
Normally you would find an event ether on Facebook or Smashboards. To enter you would have to sign up online and pre-pay or
you would sign up and then pay on the day when the tournament happens.

- Would we normally only use one Wii U system?
No. Normally there would be more than one Wii U as we have to have more setups for Pools, stream and friendlies.

- Would I just simply wait until I'm called for my next match?
From my experience i was called out to play my pool matches but it might be best to ask the TO if you do get called for matches.

- What's the proper etiquette for winning/losing? (Silly question, but I want to know.)
Give your opponent a handshake whether you ether win or lose.

- If we're using multiple Wii U systems, would I just be told where to go when, or would I have to ask around?
I think you and your opponent would have to use a setup that is free so you would have to look around but you can ask.

- How do I find and apply to tournaments near me?
You can check if tournaments are happening here in Smashboards.

- how was YOUR first tournament experience? (Good? Bad? Fun? Weird? Disappointing?)
My first tournament was NES 3 which was a Melee/PM/Smash 4 tournament but i signed up for Melee. I went to this a month after i started playing Melee. I did not get out of pools because i was still new to the game and my Marth and Fox were not very good but i still had fun and met some really cool people. :)

Thanks a ton! As you can probably guess, I'm pretty nervous about this, and I want my first experience to be a good one, even if I lose more than expected. I've been spending months polishing off my game and I want to squeeze in tournaments regularly between school and work.

Thanks for being so welcoming and answering my questions. The help is greatly appreciated and I look forward to using and contributing to SmashBoards and the Smash community!
