Hey everyone, I'm wondering if there are any smashers in or around the DeKalb County area? Or if someone could direct me toward some tournaments held closeby, any helpful feedback would be appreciated! :)

I don't know. Moved out of Lasalle (right next to Dekalb) recently but there's a weekly tournament decently close to Plainfield IL. If you know where that is

Not sure if you're still looking.

Dekalb has previously had weeklies at the House Cafe downtown, recently the organizer has no showed. Also a fraternity hosted a tournament a few days ago by the Magic/gaming shop near The Huddle. I expected a few people, there was about 45-50 people there. Most players are casuals. (Melee) They gave prizes that were more or less a joke, it was mainly to raise revenue for the frat.

They'll probably do more. I'm a CS student and IT employee for NIU, I consistantly hear students talking about melee/PM in the halls of the Psychology/Computer Science building, and see fliers for local tournaments. So far I haven't seen many venues. Aurora has a large group now that I attend occasionally. If you just want to play, there's people here. But if you're serious about progress, might want to reach out to Aurora or Chicago, for larger venues.
