If you mess up a ledge hog

Okay I accidently found something out (don't know if it's new or old but w/e) I was facing my friend and I was ledge hogging. I could tell by his angle of DI he would make it back onto the stage. I accidently hit a to get up and I did that weak A slash. Since it goes slightly behind me it him, and did VERY little knockback but set him up for a quick Forward Smash. I was just wondering if anyone has done this before, and if it's worth doing in competetive play

If it kills it's worth it. If it doesn't, it's not. Why ask, it's obvious >_>

Eh, I'd think a ledgehop to spike or ledgehop to b-air would be more reliable. This would be nice and flashy, but okay. It might be better than getting up and f-smashing, though.

It seems pretty good, if AND ONLY IF you mess up a Edge hog. But it's good to know. and btw, has anyone brought this up before?

I know, but the get up attack does so little knock-back allowing you to do a quick forward smash. It's a setup move, and nothing other.

No, I would not use this as a reliable edge guard, even if you mess up a ledge hog. It is not the best choice. For one thing, you didn't mention your brother's character. Was he falcon, marth, or what? How can you accurately judge where he will land? Also, the attack you're referring to resets the opponent, allowing him to perform another up B. If you see him coming above marth to the stage (and you just happen to be on the ledge), then perform an uair while hopping onto the stage, then fair or utilt, whichever is most appropriate. However, the opponent should never land on the stage and not get sent back off again. If he does, you messed up.

Oh, and just because this worked once on your brother does not mean it will work on Mew2king, or even any half way decent tournament player... unless you're Manacloud :p

I actually use get-up moves (from the ground) to edgeguard all the time because of the embarrassment that they cause my opponents and their ridiculous hitboxes.
