EDIT: Just grammar errors
Like Brawl, it's a likely possibility that not everyone from Melee will return.
This could be due to being replaced by something more current (Lucario over Mewtwo), being essentially a less popular clone (Pichu and to some extent Doc) or just becoming too relic of a character, both aesthetically and in playstyle (no one so far.)
If anyone has to get booted in my mind it should be:
Jigglypuff - Just give Kirby some extra maneuverability and Jigg's bair and you've opened another space. Their really isn't a load of differences between the two comparitively and Jigg's has become dated in popularity, relevance and playstyle. I say this knowing full well that he's top tier, has strong carries and that Hungrybox would not be pleased. Screw Rest, open up a spot for Megaman.
R.O.B - This I don't feel as strongly about, but he shouldn't have been put in the game in the first place. His role as the unexpected weird character is filled by G&W and he himself seems quite irrelevant among not only the popular cast, but the strong independents like Pit and Ice Climbers that are much more unique. I say this knowing JCaesar would not be pleased.
Lucario - In my mind Lucario, even talking inclusively within Pokemon, has always been an attempt at re-capturing what made Mewtwo popular. He shoots energy blasts, he talks in the movie, he's jaded and he's really strong. The thing is, Mewtwo got the whole evil villian/anti-hero pokemon thing going (which is still pretty much unique to that franchise) and well ... he was our first. We still have feelings for him and I want him over Lucario.
And finally for someone I'm sure will go, even if I don't want him to:
Snake - It was by personal request by Kojima himself that got him in originally and Sakurai hasn't made it all that clear on his position on 3rd party characters returning (I think Sonic has a better chance of staying since he's the fastest character, he still frequents games with Mario and people rallied for his inclusion for a long time.) I believe Snake's style is unique, but it does clash a bit with the rest of the cast and perhaps giving his spot to someone else would maintain some homogeny within the cast. Maybe give his spot to ... Dr. Eggman! Popular villian where villian's are needed, loads of possibilities for an interesting moveset and could fill the hole left by Snake.
So in the case that some of the cast must get off the bus, who would it be? Who would you want to see leave and who do you think likely could?
