....could that mean it's damaging my CD's? Or is that just it being really old and rusty? I want to know because mine makes a really odd and loud buzzing sound when I play my CD's.

If my CD Rom Player is making an odd noise as it's playing my CD's...

Talking about for your computer, right? It could be, pop a CD in there that you don't care about(look at the condition of the CD first) and let it run for a while. A game maybe if you have one and install it so the disc spins a lot. When it's done take it out and look at it. If it's worse than before, I would probably replace the drive.
If it's a desktop you can buy a replacement drive for like 20 bucks. If it's a laptop drive, it will be a bit more.
