If balance patches do happen, how will the competitive scene implement them?

V1.0 only?

Notice how V1.1, V1.2, and PAL (V1.3 but for 1 region only essentially) had several minor, but noticeable changes, especially PAL, stuff like this:

Fox's up smash weakened, damage dropped from 18% in NTSC to 17% in PAL, knockback dramatically weakened, for example, in PAL-version Peach would die to Fox's Usmash at as high of a % as 83%, whereas in the NTSC version Peach only needs to be at 71% to be Star KO'd at Final Destination uncharged. A fully charged fully stale upsmash could kill Peach at 55% on Final Destination.
Going without patches would lock out online play and split the userbase though. I personally suspect the patches will be non-controversial, fidx glitches, and balance the roster in very minor ways if anything. Any concerns?

Kinda beat you to making the topic.
Anyway, it was established that you can delete patches and revert to vanilla on both 3DS and Wii U. But since one is coming out before the other, the second (now known to be the Wii U version and making this point more important then before,) will likely have anything significant patched, and I doubt we'll want the two versions to play differently. And then online modes will not likely work without the patch. Lastly, DLC (if any, bleck) will probably force patches on us. Even if Wavedashing got patched out, there'd be way too many downsides to not updating.
