Hello Everyone,

----EDITED
My overall Idea is to get everyone in Idaho involved a little bit more with some with smashing. I'd like to be involved for a while, but it can easily be passed on. I created one (instead of a previous two) google calendar, which I made public for Idaho tourneys, and practice sessions. The names of the calendar is:

1. Idaho Smash Tourneys and practice

I also created an email address for managing and putting calendar Items on there. I know I don't have too much of a rep, and I don't know but a few people, but I'll give the password to anyone who wishes to help with administration. Also, adding other email accounts is another way of administration. I can do some of the admin, since I work at a computer, but I will need some help.

The email is:

boise.smash@gmail.com

If an entry needs to be added, and not an admin, just email the gmail account, and we can add it. Please give some kind of advance, like a few days. If more than one person admins, the process will be:

1. Check if the entries are valid
2. Add the calendar Item if applicable
3. Send a conformation of calendar entry and if it wasn't added, give a reason
4. Delete the email

Tourney Entries should look like:

Time:
Tourney
Address
Singles-doubles etc.
Fee
Rules

Practice Entries shoud look like:

Time range:
Name:
Address:
Description: (optional)

Now, I know this site does have a tourney calendar, but I'd like to make one just for us Idaho people. Also, practice sessions should be setup if anyone want to learn and get better. I've seen people just go through forums and try to get something setup and it takes a while, so having a calendar will get some more involvement, and precise times.

On a side note, one neat thing is that you can download google desktop and add a calendar "gadget" and it will show calendar entries and have reminders for them. This would be an advantage for everyone who doesn't come to the forums a lot or for some reason misses a tourney forum.

I'll edit this original post from time to time, but please give me some input. Any feedback is good, and please be intelligent about it. Anyone who wants to be an admin and help, pm me about it and I can give the password to the account. Again, I don't know alot of people, but I have seen forum posts, so if I don't think you are worthy, I won't add you. I won't be stingy about it though, the more people the better, its just that if all your posts are just plain stupid, I'll think the same. We don't need people deleting touneys or practice sessions for no reason.

Is there a way of just combining the two calendars?

I'm not sure there's enough of either activity to support a calendar alone, plus it just seems more convenient to have everything in one place.

And while I don't know is this is useful enough to not be called redundant yet, I'm thinking it could help act as a spur - if people signed up as admins and started posting their practice/tourney schedules, it'd be more efficient and convenient than the Idaho thread alone, along with increasing turnout.

One hopes.

i can consolidate into one calendar. i do agree there isnt enough activity in idaho to support both.

and secondly, you are right gnosis about pushing activity. hopefully we get either alot of people wanting access to put their amashfests on...or have me do it. if there isnt enough activity, this can be made as a northwest calendar if oregon and washington want. (or all pacific west minus cali...they would need their own calendar).
i could post a username and password if it came down to it...but this isnt lotus or exchange...so access rights are total control, so we would be at risk for hackers..instead of an add only calendar that admins have total control.

anyway this hopefully will bring orginazation that we may need when brawl hits its hey day.

again comment or give suggestions everyone. every bit counts (sorry for the poor grammar and puncuation, im on my wii)
