I wish we could friend request people we fight

today i started my typical online day... till i got this "Joseph" guy as my opponent

fight 1, i get a lucky late ko with luma at 140% last stock... fght 2 he wins but the fights were intense as ****, we were doing cocky taunts to like piss each other off, i was hardcore mode on 100% focus, fight 3 he wins (kirby), i switch to sheik, i win, he switches to sheik, wins twice... sonic, dk, etc... many fights many characters, after like 20 fights i had to go and well, used link to use his up taunt like saying good bye and suicided twice... he taunted kirbys taunt back and suicided once aswel

this **** is about respect, the guy was better than me, he won 2/7 ratio kinda, and well, im certain that both of us had great fun on those matches

I agree. I played against some great players and I would love to play against them again, but chances are I never will

The netcode is good, but the online options are severely lacking in Smash 4. :/

This might change in the Wii U version because in your friend list there is an option to "Show Players You Have Played With" where you can send friend requests to them. Although they will get deleted if you play too much (I have a very long list of random people from Mario Kart 8). However, they might think you're a creep unless you specify on the friend request that you just played with them in Smash and want to practice with them.

They claim the Wii U can't do voicechat and a smooth online match at the same time, but it does voicechat in between matches. I'd be all for the same on 3DS.
