I wish there was no run pivoting at all

Maybe it's because I'm probably at "intermediate" level Melee right now, but I'm simply starting to hate run pivoting as a whole. It just makes moving around rather unresponsive, and running, an inherently offensive action, is even more unsafe.

I'm applying this opinion to the previous games, BTW.

People will always find exploits of the game's physics to gain a competitive edge if it grants them one.
L Cancelling and wavedashing in Melee are also exploits that people could hate arbitrarily.
Welcome to video gaming, buddy. For better or for worse, these things are here to stay.

You could always either jump out of run or WD out of run. If you are referring to being annoyed about accidentally dashing too long in a DD and entering run, one would just have to learn the timing on every character.

What is "run pivoting"?
I think he means getting stuck in the turn animation (after when you exit Dash and enter Run).

Regular pivots can mess up your movement if you're not trying to do one, I think he could be referring to that. You can still jump, and by extension, wavedash out of all control-stick-only ground movement, and can immediately do attacks that aren't neutral B as well as shield during any point in a pivot.
