I want to find or get a Smash 4 local started in my area

I've been having trouble finding a Smash 4 tourney nearby the Knoxville area. The closest thing I can get right now is, from looking at the weekly schedule on here, a Melee Weekly in Maryville, but I'm not a Melee player...or at least I'm not one with any sort of experience to do well.
So what can I do? I don't know if there's anybody in Knoxville who's noticeable or can help or anything like that. I feel like I'm in a dead zone for competitive Smash 4 right now.

Befriend some local players through facebook or smashboards, meet some players at these melee tournaments who are also interested in playing smash 4 as well, and host a tournament with these people. Have it at someone's place where you can fit a good amount of people and set ups and have a pot bonus so that there is more incentive than pride. Slowly you will build a smash 4 scene in your area. That's how i would go about it anyways.

Hmm...how can I find these people to befriend? Is there a way I can find if someone is near me and talk to them and get this ball rolling?

See if there is a facebook group for smash in your area and also check the forums under regional zones to talk to more people in your area.

Have you tried this facebook group? Alternatively, there's this thread. Check some of the links (there are several other TN facebook groups) or maybe even introduce yourself and ask around for local Smashers. Good luck!
