Smash Apprentice
I think that would be great. More diversity in competitive stages rather than just having a bunch of Final Destinations, and I would love for Dr. Wily's Castle to not have Yellow Devil.

However we have to remember, that this is a game trying to appeal to a wide audience, for a lot, and I MEAN A LOT of small parties of friends playing together, Omega Random is a godsend of an option because lots of people that play together for fun don't give a **** about competitive rulesets but love Final Destination since it's basic and easy to keep up with, and it gives some scenery and music variety to the selection since FD would normally be picked by a lot of people otherwise.I think the whole point of the Omega stages was that it meant you could play more stage variety if you liked playing under competitive conditions, as opposed to just playing Battlefield and FD (and then a handful of others). If they're all flat and the same length, the rest is just a back drop. Unfortunately Copyright means a lot of stages don't see any tournament play anyway, which is rather unfortunate. Omega random is the ultimate lazy man's pick
This isn't that bad of a concept. It would save the developers time, so they don't have to go into stages and edit things. Quite arguably, one could say Lylat Cruise or the Mushroom Kingdom stage from Smash 64 are already Omega stages in themselves, just with platforms, which really wouldn't affect the status of a Omega stage at all. Just remove the bumper from the Mushroom Kingdom stage, and you're all set.I think that would be great. More diversity in competitive stages rather than just having a bunch of Final Destinations, and I would love for Dr. Wily's Castle to not have Yellow Devil.
Maybe they could do it like they did with recording the early 3DS tournaments? If you have more than 4 players in a match, all Hazards deactivate themselves (probably due to framerate issues)
As shameless as this plug might be, I might a thread about the posibilities of using exactly what you said but in team matches:Maybe they could do it like they did with recording the early 3DS tournaments?
Two players plus 3 dummy characters go into a match, dummy characters all suicide, match starts. Voila! No hazards.
....Just kidding.XD Hilarious as that would be, it seems like it'd be a bit too much of hassle, for competitive players especially.
Removing stage hazards, depending on the course, strips the course to a Omega stage, just with platforms, and extended vertically. It would work well for Flat Zone and Pyrosphere. I really lack to see where competitive smashers would have a problem.Maybe they could do it like they did with recording the early 3DS tournaments?

I'd love to be able to toggle all Hazards too. and yes it's already coded into the game for more than 4 players. It would add some maps that are Unique to play without Hazards. I think having the choice to play two different versions of a stage is one of the greatest ways to add variety and would not be hard to implement. Also it makes the standard iterations of the map more fun when it's not the same each match. Win-Win for everyone.
Pirate ship... yea this isn't one of the levels it would be most useful for. And I think Pac Land... the idea would be completly useless.I like the concept but I guess it's too much of a hassle in Nintendo's view.
If they're gonna remove, say 'Pirate Ship's disturbances like the canon tower and the catapult it would just be.. a boat in the sea stage?
The idea is alright but I think it relates to already removing a lot of hazards on most stages that omega already does and that few or less stages would be getting special tiny edits.
Sometimes they do this, but usually for animated cut scenes, etc. or they actually integrate teams together during the development of the game. Sakurai and his team seem to be very hands on and precise so I can't imagine they would just hand it over to someone else ESPECIALLY if they didn't work directly with the Smash team.I was thinking about this earlier. Sakurai, or Nintendo thereof, could hire an outside group to do the required programming and designing work, regardless of if that group works with Sakurai directly or not. It doesn't always have to be Sakurai's team doing everything, I'm sure there are other Japanese programming and designing companies out there that can be hired to do the work.
