I remember seeing an option to change matchmaking region

I just got the game and the first time I played I swear I was given the option to choose the online region but now I cant see the option again, even with a new mii.

Was a tutorial and I got confused?, I remember seeing worldwide, US, Europe etc.

I know you can see Conquest results filtered by Japan, Worldwide, etc, but I do not believe there is a matchmaking region option.
