And, forgive me if this has been suggested before.

I believe that a mode should be incorporated that involves the characters changing from 3D models to 2-D pixelated sprites. It is entirely possible, as seen in Super smash Flash.

Really, I think that seeing an 8-Bit Bowser or Link would be awesome, and this mode would probably be very popular. The music would even change to the old school bleeps and bloops in midis!

It wouldn't require that much, and they could call it "Retro Smash," or "NES Smash," or "8-Bit Brawl!"

I would personally love a mode like this, even if it is just costume changes and sound changes.

that's not a bad idea actually, lol

but would EVERYTHING become 8-bit, or just the characters?

like, 8 bit characters with a 3D background or what? Would the items be 3D? etc?

That would actually be pretty fun. Though I myself had an idea for a mode thats allows all characters fight at once, sort of like a royal rumble from WWE.

Oh God. If they delayed Brawl for something like this, I would have to strangle a kitten with it's own spine..

I say if Nintendo did that to save it for a DS Smash Bros. game. That would be a d@mn good game to play.

Somewhere, most likely existent
I'd like this. All characters could be in their 8-bit form, or if they didn't have one, have some edits to give them an 8-bit form. It might take a while to implement, though, with all the characters. Not to mention if they did stages and items and such. Still, I'd love it.

I had an idea in my head, similar to this, for a very long time.
You probably presented it better, so gg, since I never would have anyways.

Well, Sakurai does love retro. Maybe it's already been done? An 8-bit level in the SE, maybe?

But wouldn't that get laggy?

Not really. Royal Rumble in past smackdown games were pretty smooth with a limit on how many can be on screen at once.
For Brawl four fighters would start out and on a special stage where it would be difficult to knock someone out even at 999%. When a character would be ko'ed the next fighter in line would enter and so on until there is a victor.

maybe there could be an item that makes your char pixelated and maybe adds another effect.
but it would just be for a little time, like starman.

This is almost impossible. Making just 1 sprite can take hours of work. A character needs one sprite for each frame... that is thousands and thousands of them.

that doesn´t look like thousands and thousands of pixels.
I think they could make them like that, like in paper mario tTYD.

No its not thousands of pixels, but thousands of sprites!

Even if drawn like that motoboy, it would consume a huge time to make everyone sprites.

If you've played the latest Mario Party game on the Wii, there's a candy powerup that does this: I forgot what it's called. Someone help me out here.

Other than having to have thosands of spites how would they thansfor 3D movement. If they did find a way, why would they try that hard for a mode that doesnt add anything to the game play. It just doesnt make sense.

They would just keep the hitboxes and paste the sprite over them. It would make fighting exactly the same regardless of what form you were in.
