I need some pointers

I've been playing Meta Knight pretty heftily ever since I got the game and I'm not too bad with him. However, there's times in matches where I have trouble with him and can't seem to do what I want to do or can't seem to KO too well (despite knowing what his KO moves are and when to use them). Don't worry, I'm not a newb to him, I'm fairly decent with him though, I keep making stupid mistakes some times.

Anyway, some pointers on what I need to do that I don't do would be welcome. And, to help on what I don't do, here's some example matches of my Meta Knight.

Don't pay attention to how bad the other player may seem to you, just watch me (red Meta Knight) and tell me what I need to start doing to improve my game with him than what I already am doing. I do see some of my faults but, I certainly don't know what else to do. :dizzy:

I haven't watched all the vids yet, but from what I've seen, you're fairly campy in movement but not in attack. That's a problem. You sit around waiting for your opponent for the most part except for the occasional times when you rush, at which points your charges are fairly predictable. If you're going to be campy, then camp properly: take advantage of the times when your opponent's left wide open. There were so many times that first Ike did useless Aethers which you should've punished, and instead you sat around waiting for him to land before charging in.

Your aerial game is pretty good, though. ^_^

alright i play as metaknight and im pretty good. i play against a bunch of competitve smashers as well as chillin and heres some videos of me (none of me vs. chillin but those will come). i play extremely aggressive, which punishes me sometimes but i can get in real quick and have some good combos and tactics. my advice if youre going to try and learn metaknight is be real aggressive but maybe play a little more conservative than i do. i can KO prety quickly and easily IMO with metaknight so say what you think and make your own opinions, but heres my advice:

me vs. toon link - http://youtube.com/watch?v=VSAY5JFssbI
me vs. snake - http://youtube.com/watch?v=gcQvNfPH8co
me vs. ike - http://youtube.com/watch?v=MxQlyC5hMys
me vs. zss - http://youtube.com/watch?v=-hQRsOOPhqA

if you play too aggressive with meta knight you can get to be alittle to predictable. But with the arsenal of attacks he has that can easily be over come.

depending on the player i usually hold back a bit and wait for an opening allowing me to volley then into the air and hopefully into and up b to their death.

but normally im aggressive at times and sometimes i just hold back and camp a bit.
a little bit of both is good

cause if ur too agressive you can get shield grabbed out of some of your attacks. but if you mix it up and hold up a little it can throw someone off and now they have to apporach you.

if i had videos id put some up

Up-B out of shielding is really good never forget it! When your opponent is at high damage just do this and its a easy kill. Dont do it too often though it will get predictable. And like Godot said mix it up a bit. Sometimes its better to do nothing and just wait for a opening to attack..turtle style. This helped out my game alot.

This is just echoing what these guys said but I believe on the spectrum of campy-aggressive you should be close to balanced but a little more towards the aggressive side. It's very tough for Meta to stand back against guys with projectiles, and you don't want the big hitters coming into your house smashing you cause Meta is weak. You gotta keep your opponent on their toes.

Mind games....

I watched three of the vids and I possible flaw that I see is that you spend too much time just waiting for your opponent to attack. Against ike that generally isn't a big problem but against someone like pit you need to be more aggressive. You do a good job dodging and shielding which is essential as metaknight gets ko'd far too easily. The last thing is that you never used upB in the vids that I watched. it has a good knockback and its nice to use out of a shield.

oh and in your wifi matches don't spend time taunting when the match starts. completely pointless

Thanks for the tips guys. I had already been using the Up B more recently after those videos were taken. However, I never used it out of the shield... I'll keep that in mind. Secondly, if I want to be more aggressive what are the best approaches? (Unless of course I'm doing all the approaches possible ).

check out my vids that i posted earlier, ive been told that im extremely aggressive. if you play like that you can rack up alot of damage and kill your opponents before they have the chance to think and try and combo you.

Shears,

I like the use of shuttle loop and gliding to get back on. Do you lose any jumps when you go into glide? Nice edge hogging on Ike by the way too.

What is the formula for spam decay? Cause I've heard people say you can only do the tornado twice before it becomes worthless.
the tornado is never worthless no matter how many times you use it. i dont remember where but someone said pits downB shield stops the tornado. wrong. that tornado eats shields.
