I need help with changing Marth's slash effects

I changed the purpleslash.pac file into marth03.pac and put it in the marth file of my sd card, but it didn't work! The slash effects didn't change at all! Am I doing something wrong? Am I supposed to have a pcs file for it too (there was only .pac file for it)? Please help me!

A Slash effect would probably not be a specific costume, but rather effect all of Marth (I may be mistaken about this, but this was the case for Meta Knight.) Try renaming it "FitMarth.pac"

Oh, thanks! It worked out, but I got a little problem. I don't know if it's just me who thinks like this, but it seemed like it decreased the range of marth's aerial attacks (Especially the neutral air. It doesn't reach very well). Do some slash effect files actually decrease or increase the range of attacks?

Um nope, it just crashes the game whenever you try to load in Marth.
