I'm a player that does doubles a lot online and I have an offline partner that we play together at tourneys. I only do doubles with partners that I have at least decent synergy with. My biggest flaws are hitting my partner too much, missing out on team finishers, mediocre performance when it comes to a 2v1 (when the opposing team has 1), playing too aggressive, and my partner always ends up getting double-teamed.

I just need help with doubles period, so whether you have advice that is specific to my problems or just the basic guidelines for doubles (which I would REALLY appreciate), then let me know please.

Don't play doubles how you would a singles match, there are two of you on the team and you both need to rely on each other.
Always keep track of what your partner is doing, if they get a grab, are struggling, etc. Never just focus on yourself, because then you will miss out on followups from your partner, fail to help them in situations where the need it, among other things.
If you two keep hitting each other, you need to stop playing so aggressively. Don't think "How am I going to take the opponent's stock," but "How are we going to take the opponent's stock." A good thing to do in a 2v1 situation is to have one of you two to grab the enemy for a follow up of some sort. Just stopping their momentum is a good thing. Just practice and see what kind of follow ups you and your partner's characters can do, like what throws go where at what percent's, what would the best option out of these throws be, etc.

Just know that you are not alone, and have another person there with you. Don't do everything as if you were alone, work as a team!
