Everything should work fine from the start. I'm in Japan right now and all my US stuff works fine here. You should be OK.

It's a little different when going from America to Japan. Japan has a lower voltage than America, so American appliances (aside from clocks) will work fine. But since America has a higher voltage than Japan, some Japanese appliances (hairdryers, kotatsu) shouldn't be used.

As for a Wii, I'm not 100% sure, but I imagine it'll work fine (at least I hope). I've known people who've had other Japanese systems in America without voltage adapters and they've worked fine. The only thing I'd probably do is unplug the system when not using it or turn off WiiConnect24.

If I use my USA power supply in the Japanese Wii, will that bridge the gap? If the Wii is wanting to output in 110 and I have a 120 in there, won't it hurt the Wii, or is everything going on inside the voltage adapter so putting a U.S. wii adapter will work fine?

No I just got my *** wii from play-asia (only three days!) and it plugged into the American socket and worked fine! No kaboom! So it runs just fine on an American outlet. Now just need the game!

What I want to know is if it's better to use the Japanese AC in my wall socket or plug in my U.S. AC into the Japanese Wii? Which one has less chance of resulting in brickage?

sorry bro I really have no idea.
I imagine that using a slightly higher voltage shouldn't do anything, go ahead and use the japanese AC cord or w.e its called, it should convert it just fine.

I'm not 100% on what exactly you need. However, as stated before most *** products work fine in America. I do suggest however, that you keep it plugged into a surge protector at all times while you are using it, and then unplug it when it's not in use.

Here's to hoping for awesome spoilers by you ^.^

I also have a question about ordering a Japanese wii with SSB X from playasia.
Will they ship the wii first or wait and ship them at the same time?

Have you considered possible compatibility issues with SSBBX online support in the US? I mean I have no idea personally, just thought it was something to bring up.

I'd like an answer to these questions too:

1.) Should I use my US or the included Japanese power supply?
2.) Should I buy some sort of an adapter?

Alot of appliances in the Americas still use 110V even if outlets are now 120V. The japanese Wii's adapter is for 110V, so I doupt there'd be any problems with the way it comes.

Thanks man

Also, how long should it take Play Asia to ship it to me? Three, four days?

I am in NJ also and recently ordered a japanese Wii from ebay. I have the tracking, and it should arrive in a few days.

I ordered Brawl from both play-asia and ncsx. NCSX is based in NY, and i will just cancel the other order once one ships.

NCSX was also cheaper when ordering with 2 day air ups than playasia was with 1-4 days.

I e-mailed Play-Asia and they told me they expect to get the game on time (The 31st Im guessing) and that it takes an average of 4 days for usps, which is what I took. Dunno about if I should try NCSX as well just in case..

I am importing because for the gamecube and DS, there have been several games that i have imported through their lifetimes.

This is just the first of many games I plan to import, so it's the perfect time.

NCSX and Play-Asia both have good cancellation policies (i have cancelled orders from both in the past)

Thats good to know, what's a good way to know they're shipping from one place so you can cancel with the other site?

They usually send an email out when it ships. That has been my experience..but around the 30th i will probably be checking both sites constantly.

on ncsx, hit you and your order.

then you will see your order listed, and below it says Email us to amend order. Just email them if/when you want to cancel it.

I live in the UK, and I got a Japanese Wii, as well. My UK adaptor Wii runs it fine.

As it has an external transformer the input into any Wii in any country SHOULD be the same.

Check the Primary (input) voltage AND current on the bottom of your Wii and compare it to the Secondary (output) on the adaptor's transformer box. If all the numbers are the same, you'll be good to go!
