That was already said in this \/ topic, but it got locked. Why?

The guy was right, I fell sorry for Sakurai too. He worked hard on it and did his best, and made an awesome game.

But while ppl complain about characters, nobody is complaining about the game itself.
Can't you see, if certain characters were in, others would be out! It's impossible to make a roster that satisfacts everyone.

Well, Sakurai pretty much said that he doesn't care in one of the Iwata asks. He knows that you can't satisfy everybody and there will be some people that are upset.

The reasons why some of the topics here are getting locked befuddle me.

And either way, it's not Sakurai's fault at all. It's pretty much the community's fault for hyping the game to freaking unbelievable portions.

It starts off as someone wanting something. Sakurai gives promise. Hope grows. Sakurai says nothing. Hope inflates like Jiggly's Final Smash. This turns into impatience. Impatience turns into anger. And when the final roster is revealed...

BOOM!

The same can be said for anyone expecting Brawl to have the same physics as Melee. It's a different game, and people need to realize that.

I'm sure Sakurai is mature enough to welcome constructive criticism, a grown man doesn't need your sympathy. He isn't eight years old like some people here, who whine every time they come across an opinion that opposes their own.

One doesn't have to worship everything about a game, to still appreciate/like it.

They messed up with the roster some, but the game as a whole is still great.

He's the director of the game. All the failings of the game are ultimately his responsibility. It's part of the job.

Big, spooky castle in eastern europe.

It's his responsibility to cater to this forum's idea of special interest groups?

People need to remember that the Geno Alliance or whatever the hell they called it was just a fraction of Smashboards. Which was just a fraction of the forum-going fanbase. Which was a small percentage of the fanbase. Which was just a very, very, very, very... (Screw this, go look at a to-scale picture of the earth and the solar system) small percentage of the target demographic.

Sakurai had to consider millions, if not billions of potential customers in four-hundred different countries on six different continents. The number of people who'd recognize and enjoy Ridley are far outweighed by the number of people that would recognize Rob.

I know that the banner at the top of the site says it's the number-one smash bros. community online, but Sakurai is a buisnessman. He was aiming for everyone between the ages of six and thirty, worldwide. Next to that, Smashboards doesn't count for ****. (No offense, Gimpy.)

My point? People on this site lacked a sense of perspective, and let their expectations run amok.

As for promises about 'fifty characters' or 'no more clones'...Can we really trust an ambiguous quote from some long gone site that no one seems to be able to reproduce? Didn't anyone's mother ever tell them not to believe everything you read?
