I didn't have to delete my save file or anything fancy to get wi-fi to work

I see all these complicated guides saying you need to delete your Brawl save file and replace it with another one etc etc to get wi-fi to work. But all I had to do to use PM 3.5 Wii wi-fi was downlaod the wi-fi safe version on the Project M official website, delete the contents of my SD card (I previously had the "Full set" version on there), put the "wi-fi safe" version in the SD card and extract, and then bam, I could connect to wi-fi in project M and play people. The wi-fi safe version of 3.5 for the Wii has wi-fi capability built in.

Note: I'm not saying that the other guides are wrong, but most of them that are more complicated seem to be for a previous version of Project M or for computers. I made this thread to clear things up for others.

Correct. Project M 3.5 contains the necessary Ocarina code for enabling connecting to the unofficial WiFi server. Previous versions did not, hence the abundance of more "complicated" guides (note that those guides are still applicable to vBrawl). I imagine however that if you had used your save file to connect to WiFi prior to the official server's closing, you would need to go through the process of deleting your save file, since the friend code attached to your console and save file would not be recognised by the new server.

as an aside, doesn't the new PM launcher allow you to swap between the full and WiFi codesets from within the launcher itself, without having to delete one and replace it with the other (which was never necessary anyway, it just makes the process simpler)? I remember reading about this somewhere, but can't remember the specifics.
