Nice... Didn't know you could mod it in such a way.

How do people manage to still play such old games though? Is it just for memories sake?

Nostalgia is one of the greatest feelings a person can experience.

And SSB64 kicks ***.

Because there are plenty of old games that are awesome, games are essentially a storytelling artform, and if done right they're worth playing centuries after release, years are nothing. Shiny graphics aren't everything.

C*** I sound like an old man.

Fake, look at how well the N64 picture stands out. It'd be cool if it were real though.

I don't exactly understand how it works entirely. My roommate did it as part of his senior research/design project, he's in electrical engineering. He's not that big of a gamer, but he loves Smash 64, and I was complaining that it wasn't out on the Virtual Console (plugging and unplugging the Wii/64 was getting annoying, not enough outlets) and he decided to use that idea as a springboard into whatever the hell he did to it.
Pretty Sweet though :D

That photo there subtly hides the slots for the game and controller. Electrical engineering will not teach him how to reverse-engineer Wii's operating system and code it to properly play an N64 game in a completely new slot. N64 controller is in a slot where Gamecube controllers are supposed to go, and they don't use the same kinds of connectors.

There's a bunch of other things out of place that could be answered with real photos, but eh.

Wow.. Say goodbye to your warranty. Doesn't anyone else save their old systems and still have them hooked up to a tv? or am I just an insane lunatic?

My roommate bought a japanese wii and preordered brawl. Be jealous because we'll be playing a month early than everyone else.

Everyone I know who had SNES had theirs die out cause the software was old, so tahts y Nintendo uses gamecube plugs for SNES/N64 plugs. But now we have the VC. Also old games are better then most new games now a days.

Hell I can list at least 5-10 old games better then the crap/ok games we get today.
I don't get how the pic might be fake or not, but I think its real.

Bioshock...

Old games are not inherently better then new games, or vice-versa, they're different experiences which must be judged individually based on their merits.

BTW: Halo 3 was a really good game, even though it's story wasn't particularly good, it's implementation of said story was insanely good.

True but CT is higher on the charts with FF7 and OoT, but from fans you're right about the experience part.

I don't know if that's actually possible, but anyone could easily fake that picture. I find it suspicious that he chose to show the television screen rather than the cartridge slot that would be on the back of the Wii. I also have trouble believing his Wii wouldn't overheat due to a lack of ventilation (the vent is normally located on the back). What I think he did was tape SSB64 to the back of his Wii and displayed a photoshopped image on his tv using the photo channel. As for the N64 controller that is supposedly plugged in, because the pic is taken at a low angle, there is no way to see if it is actually plugged in or just taped with double sided tape. Also, if you follow the wire from where it plugs in upward, it looks sorta photoshopped in, although it could just be bending weird.

. . .so I modded my Wii.

LOL Your tv's almost as small as your controller.
You must play Mario Strikers: Charged. XD

Anyway, nice job on the mod. Did you have to use the ubs ports to connect the cartridge reader (or w/e it's called)?

Yeah, I'll agree with that Chrono Trigger>Halo 3.

But I'm glad we agree, improved technology does give the advantage of the ability to use more advanced methods to tell the story, but that doesn't mean that they're actually GOING to be better, some games are simply inspired.

I wonder which of the current generation of games will still be played in 500 years, we certainly have books from that length of time that are still read.
