I can WD in PM consistently but not melee?

Is there a difference in the timing between the two at all? In PM I can WD 99/100 times without even thinking about it. In melee, I pull it off maybe 1/2 the time (3/5 if I am really focusing on it).

I feel like I need to hit the R button later in melee. Half the time I just end up jumping in the air when trying to WD.

To be specific, I am playing marth if that has anything to do with it, but I have the same problem when i play jiggz (my secondary).

EDIT: Problem solved. It is because of the Tk tourney pack.

Which version of PM do you use? iirc, the wifi-safe version doesn't register all L/R inputs as full presses, unlike Melee/PM (full set) which register full and soft (partial) presses. Air dodging requires a full press so, by extension, WD requires full presses. Since the wifi-safe version of PM would supposedly register these slightly earlier than normal, it's probably throwing your timing off a bit (if that's the case).

That's not it. I have the full set.

The timing is the same, infinitycollision. There is a 1 frame later timing for acting out of a WD but the button sequence is identical. Only exception is if he is using the wifi codeset which causes airdodges with a light press of the shoulder, meaning he would be used to that and when he went back to melee he would be pressing the shoulder button too early. But he says he's not using it so idk what the problem is.

Are you perhaps using a different character? Different characters have different timings so if you are using a character with a slower jumpstart in melee than the character you are using in PM, this may cause the problem.

Marth in both. Even if it wasn't, I can wavedash with all the characters in PM except the ones with really laggy jumps like bowser.

I will double check the wifi safe thing, but I am 99% sure I didn't get that version. Could it have something to do with tk breezy's tourney pack? Even if that's the case it doesn't make sense because I was able to WD consistently before I got that.

TK breezy's pack actually had a bug that left input assist on, which is three frames of buffer that is supposed to be off by default settings (and isn't used in tournies). So you aren't even using the right timing for wavedashing, the game's buffer is doing it for you while you are pressing the button too early. Melee doesn't have this buffer as an option and frankly doesn't need it, nor does PM. But TK breezy's pack does have it on. I'm not sure if you can just turn it off when using TK breezy's pack or if you have to download the new version with the issue fixed (which stupidly enough was never publicly announced).

Okay. Thank you. That makes a lot of sense. That's really dumb that nobody mentioned that.

Yeah, that'd do it... You'd have to turn it off every time you boot up PM if you keep using the old pack, so you'll want to track down the new one.

Another question if anybody wants to answer. Is there a way to get the maps from the TK pack without getting the whole thing? Specifically norfair and PS1?

the folder will contain all the stages that have changed.

you need the files specifically, cant recall off the tp of my head.
STGNORFAIR? and STGDXSTADIUM or something?

Putting those into a normal PM build in the same location will add teh stages.
then you need the .rel files from the module folder.

then you need to get the images from common5.

easiest if you download stage manager and look at guides for custom content.
