Hey guys, I was just wondering if you had any tips on using Sonic's side special? I have literally no idea how to properly use it. It seems really, really useless, but I've heard it's a very useful move.

New to Sonic huh?

His side special as well as down special are good for starting combos, chasing people off stages, and allowing Sonic to use a more horizontal double jump that greatly improves his recovery known as the spin shot. They can be cancelled upon start up by using the shield allowing you to grab, run or attack and downright confuses your opponent if done properly. You can also cancel the horizontal approach by jumping (press a while still holding b) allowing you to jump while in the spin dash or charge to actually hit someone above you where you can follow up with another attack (this version has a hit box). You can actually jump while still charging the side b by pressing any jump button but be careful as once you are in the air you can not execute the spin charge or any other action for that matter until you hit the ground (this one has no hit box). Simply look up any Sonic at a tournament maybe someone like 6WX would be a start. His spin dash and spin charge are not useless they are far from it and is why some people hate playing against Sonic since in the right hands he is a legitimate problem haha

Please refer to the Moveset thread to learn more. If you still are having trouble, the FAQ also includes breakdowns and is an open topic for questions.

If you learn from example, then check out the Video Archive to study fellow Sonic players.

Sonic's Side-B is by far one of his most useful and versatile moves.

Welcome to the boards, but try to familiarize yourself with our stickies before making new threads.
