Critique topic, top of the page.
Ye, critique topic please, thanks :D
i get critiques all the time and i don't ask for them. i'll critique you.

Umm, in terms of experience and where you want to be, i'll just start with fundamentals.

I really like this one. Drawing in general you want to start off light, then refine little by little as you go along. Referencing from images, and gaining experience/style from other artists is a definite plus i see in this. Since i don't know what direction you're aiming for (anime/manga?) I'll just continue to look through. But it's fairly decent for someone your age.

Thats what the critique topic is for, if we didnt have it, we'd have hundreds of these threads. I'm not bringing my personal experiences in here, but after my "incident" I have learned to take things more seriously, and this is one of those things that I actually care about, take it to the critique topic.

I'm sorry but that doesn't make sense.
If that's the case, then no wonder the Artwork emporium is so dead.
Person posts img> users applaud if any> done

vs

person posts img> critique> responses> more critique>actual conversation

If that is a rule it seriously needs revision. It just leads to people posting artwork and if they honestly are terrible, they just post it in a new thread they cannot get any negative feedback. If they don't get any negative feedback they do not get better. All we are allowed to do in that situation is say "goodjob" according to that rule then. Which leaves less room for open discussion. Which in any art class when they have critique, anyone is allowed to say whatever they feel about the piece to strive to possibly help the creator to push it further.

Was this pointed at me? All that I said was that there would be hundreds of threads like these, and it is just easier to have 1 thread for all of it. I said nothing about negative critique.

no, it just seemed like Kandoken, in another thread used this as a reference stating that supposedly, critique is only allowed in the "official" critique thread. and what you said did kind of give a basis for that statement.

nah. people just critique way too much and don't draw a single thing. that's kind of odd.

i don't discriminate on age. a friend of mine, alvin lee went pro at like 18 doing comics. but this is, i'd hate to say, just a bunch of filters and gradients to me. his vision is wonderful, but i'm sure he can't draw/paint worth a lick. Two different types of art.

So why did you add "For someone your age" to your post?

Sounds to me like you don't hold the world of graphic design in very high regard and only hold value to those who do art the "classic" way. That or you think digital artwork can be done very easily. He used a lot more than just filters (who the hell actually uses filters?) and gradients...

For the record I'm sure he DREW some of that stuff in Adobe Illustrator (like the bird and various designs), otherwise he wouldn't be able to SELL his t-shirts because of copyright. He's made nearly $2,000 dollars through T-shirts already.

"For someone their age", is toward the experience and age level where they currently are. No big deal. But make no mistake, i'm not one to be biased. If you want to quote me, i said your link had a "good vision". My preference is drawing/painting, but i didn't say anything about graphic design being inferior. I just said he probably couldn't draw worth a lick. Experience and decorating are two different things like painting and graphic design. Regardless of which, I'm sure your guy knows what he's doing artistically, cuz they're pretty pictures. But for me, personally, they're just pretty pictures. Nothing more. Does that answer your question?

Are you serious? Those aren't sigs, they're LPs (large prints), actual designing. Chances are you have a few shirts with digitally made designs on them. :/

Very. And chances are, this thread initially had nothing to do with that guy in the first place.

Hey man, no reason for the harsh words, you don't know me bro. I found this site from viewing my recent hits on my portfolio. Yes, I can illustrate and draw. Some of my work is pre sketched before I do work in Illustrator and Photoshop, that is how I made that bird and some of my recent work - http://www.designbyhumans.com/humans/profile/34828. The "pretty pictures" get me out of a summer job. ;)

I appreciate the kind words Kirby and I'm sixteen not fifteen.

Ok this is what I get for being busy and then not having the internet.

This thread is pretty off topic now

I encourage critiques outside of the critique thread if it is a FINISHED piece and deserves its own thread, or a few images that the person doesn't plan on changing much. I don't condone someone just linking to their DA page and asking what people think. I think that's somewhat arrogant, in fact. Don't make people sift through your page, especially since each piece of art will be different in its own way and deserves its own critique. Threads should have a focus.

And you can't judge someone's art by how much money they make. Any idea how much money furry pron gets? Eesh.
