I beat olimar!!!!!!!!

I posted a thread a couple weeks ago asking for help because i got two stocked by a friend who used olimar once a two stocked me in a three stock match. After weeks of hard training and fightering lv 9's i finally beat him consistently last night. Praise the melee gods my samus is back!

I got my *** kicked online by ShadowHydra's olimar, 3/2 stocked me consistently, I just couldn't touch him, and musta been to flustered to think about ways to improve.

In-placeing the pikmin throw has helped me greatly. He is too short for the zair to be effective but homing missiles as well as smash missiles work wonders. I'm really starting to realize the potential Samus has in brawl as a major combo character. Just press him and press hard. Avoiding pikmin is a lost cause. Take a few of them to get to olimar. Use charge shots only when he is in the air or running towards you. otherwise a pikmin will take it and not even die. WTF?!?! I know this is repetitive but getting him off the edge, no matter how you do it will give you the edge. literally

Olimar is easy to edge guard, but with Samus it's cake!!

By in-placing I mean doing an in-place dodge to avoid his very long smash attacks (fsmash and dsmash) as well as his pikmin throw side b

Ohh, I usually just refer to that as a side-step or a spot-dodge.


Perhaps it was the online-play, I dunno, I'll practice up some, thanks for the advice duuuudes

you have to realize that you are hylian, the guy who invented the zair strategy. lol it doesn't come as easy to the rest of us

i just can't seem to get low enough to hit him with it so i just charge and do as much damage and kill as many pikmin as i can

but its good to know im not by myself there,
assuming zair is the grapple beam in air, i have no idea how to get it to work against him...
he's way to small.

yeah i know what you are saying Ratatat. I just charge at him full blast and i use my chargeshots wisely. I literally shot a fully charged one at a yellow pikmin and it was stunned and ran back to him WTF X 10^8!!!

I'm forced to counter-pick whenever I play against olimar. Kirby works wonders. Apparently, you have to" fight as someone their own size".

Why would you use more Super Missiles? They fly over Olimar's head. I would stick with SHAD to ftilt. On flat stages, Samus really cannot touch Olimar. It's not meant to be.

the super missiles are more for spacing. The olimar i play isn't a major camper so he comes at me sometimes( though not much i might ad) the super missiles stop his aerial attacks and provide for openings for combos.
