Hi, i'm trying to start playing ness. I was good w/ him in N64 version, but i didn't like him in SSBM. However i'm willing to give him another chance (from watching sinma own). I curently main Yoshi, but i also play jiggs, peach, and IC. IF someone could give me tips to start out that'd be nice. I have trouble racking up damage (all i know is DJC to fairs, but it doesn't do tons of damage). If anyone can compare ness to some other cahrs i play, that'd be helpful too. Thanks:lick:

Fairs don't do a lot of damage, but they have a large range and priority, do multiple hits, are extremely fast, ,and they're extremely good at stringing together into more fairs. The closest to Ness in my opinion is Yoshi because he can DJC, which is like what half of Ness is. For starting out, definitely practice his recovery, over and over and over and over and over until you can get it right from lots of different angles. Work on timing your bair, fair, uairs, dairs, and his fsmash. They all have wierd hitboxes, so get to know them. Uhm, anyone else have suggestions?

yeah, go here: http://smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=93855

And watch the vids.

Learn to evade well, because if you get stuck in a combo, Ness has a real tough time breaking out.

Simna, Mofo, and UmbreonMow all play really fast using DDs and WDs to increase Ness's overall agility, so that's what I'm going to try to do next, so um, maybe try that.

Hahahahahahaha!! Lolz.

Read The Ness guide at the top of the forum. It's almost half of everything you need to know about Ness.

Learn to WD SHFFL OOS stuff and DjCL and you win.

Not familiar with OOS stuff...

Can someone help me out on this one, as I Ctl+Fed the way too long thread already, and I don't feel paticularly left in the dark about Ness.

OOS = out of shield. This means you djc, Wd, and Up-smash (up-p is kinda useless) out of your shield. Works similarly to jc'ing.

Gotcha, just hadn't heard the acronym before. (I always thought it'd be funny if someone jc'd a grab out of shield for irony's sake)
