I am a 26 year old Nintendo fan and like many fans I am very upset at Sakurai's decision to ignore possible newcomers from the Donkey Kong franchise. The reason? Its quite obvious. It is one of the most popular franchises in gaming and in the best selling Nintendo franchises. I'm sorry but I cannot agree with Sakurai ignoring it. Regardless of if you accept it, being one of the most popular Nintendo franchises means it contributed an awful lot to the success of Nintendo and it seems like he is spitting on the legacy by ignoring playable characters here. This is why people are upset in the matter, not just because they like the game.
So where does age play a factor here? I see people cover for Sakurai's decision not to add K.Rool but it is the word they use that gets me. "Irrelevant". The apologists defending the decision to ignore him use this word to cover it up. My conclusion is someone being this ignorant must not be old enough to know K.Rool and realize regardless of being used by Nintendo or not he is very popular in people's minds and calling him "irrelevant" is an insult to both DK and the main villain.
This is why I agree with Sakurai. This will probably get locked because it is a hard opinion and comes off as brash but I feel this needs to be addressed. K.Rool has been requested since the very beginning of the series and for him to still be missing after ALL THIS TIME is criminal. Younger people might not understand it but tell me how you feel in 15 years time to find out your favourite villain (someone you KNOW is popular and loads want with you) is still not playable.
Regardless of not having releases or not being focused on by Nintendo he is still very much alive and getting a Mii costume proves he placed high in the ballot.
TLDR: If you are calling K.Rool "irrelevant" I conclude you aren't old enough to know about it.
