How would I get better

I've been playing smash since Melee, I really do like ultimate although I do get annoyed with it.

I'm a Joker main, I know how he works I can do pretty well with him on a good day. 90% of the time it's not so good for me... Thus I want to get better playing Joker.

I have a friend who hates joker, so Everytime I pick him he'll pick Pichu, I cannot fight against Pichu for the life of me.

Which is kinda discouraging when wanting to play the character that I main.

I find that I shield a lot and jump for Aerials but I always end up getting combo'd even if I see it coming and try to avoid it.

What are some tips that could be beneficial for me as a joker main? Any kind of help is nice.

Post video of your play. It's impossible to say anything of value otherwise. Some combos may be true at certain percents, so nothing you can do. Other combos maybe your DI is wrong, etc...

Hard to really say anything specific so post something.
