How to Shorthop

This has been bugging me for a while. How do you Shorthop on the 3ds version? It says you have to tap it, but it won't work for me.

Just release the jump button the moment you press it.
If you're still doing a normal jump, you're not doing it fast enough.

You're not releasing fast enough. Reflexes and all that. That's literally all there is to it. Some characters have a tighter window than others, but all in the demo are pretty easy.

Don't slide up all the way. Go up just enough to jump, and let go.

Same as all past games. May take some getting used to with the new control method, but it's still just as doable as before. (Still, can't wait to kill tap jump in the final version).

Brush upwards on jump button. Flick it by barely pressing it

For short hops,you tap it lightly and release quickly.
